St. Louis Wedding Photographer
If you’re planning a winery wedding near St. Louis, Defiance Ridge Vineyards is one of the most scenic and intimate venues you’ll find. Nestled in the hills of Defiance & just right outside the Chesterfield river valley, it offers sweeping views, a peaceful atmosphere, and the kind of setting that makes your wedding day feel truly special.
Lindsay and Colin’s June wedding was the perfect example of how beautiful and meaningful a day here can be, even when plans don’t go exactly as expected.

How It All Started
Lindsay and I actually met in the most unexpected way—during COVID. At the time, I was making masks for healthcare workers, and we connected online. What started as something so simple turned into something really special when she reached out later to have me photograph her wedding.
Getting to be part of her day after that kind of beginning made it feel even more personal.
A Glowy Summer Start
Their wedding day started with that dreamy early summer light. It was warm, glowy, and calm before the storm. June at Defiance Ridge Vineyards is absolutely beautiful, with everything lush and green.
The getting ready space inside the house is quaint, cozy, and full of charm. It’s perfect for those slower, more intimate moments in the morning: details, laughter with your girls, and just soaking it all in before the day begins.
Lindsay’s color palette of dusty blue and soft greens fit the setting perfectly. Everything felt light, natural, and timeless.

When the Rain Came
Like many summer weddings in Missouri, the weather had its own plans.
Rain rolled in, and Lindsay and Colin had to pivot from their outdoor ceremony to an indoor one. And honestly? It couldn’t have been more beautiful.
One thing I always tell my couples as a wedding photographer is that rain doesn’t ruin your day, it just changes the story. It is considered good luck and it is not something to stress over!! There is always an alternative option and it will always be alright. This was one of those days where the story turned into something even more intimate and emotional.
Having a wedding venue that can accomodate an indoor ceremony too is so important when there is a chance of weather. The indoor ceremony felt close, intentional, and full of so much joy.

The Sweetest Details
There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the day that made it feel uniquely them.
Their dog, Finley, couldn’t be there but they included him in the sweetest way with custom napkins featuring his name. It’s little things like that that make a wedding feel personal and unforgettable.
Their reception was full of energy and so much fun. Their wedding party especially brought the best vibes all day long. And Lindsay’s parents were incredibly kind and welcoming, which always adds so much warmth to a wedding day.
Their absolutely delicious cake was from Sam’s Club and it was a perfect reminder that your wedding doesn’t have to be over-the-top to be beautiful and meaningful.

A Perfect Night at Defiance Ridge
As the rain kept pittering outside and the evening settled in, everything felt relaxed, joyful, and full of life. Defiance Ridge really shines during moments like this, the views, the atmosphere, and the way everything flows together so naturally.
It’s the kind of venue that allows your day to unfold in a way that feels effortless.
