There’s something undeniably special about surprise proposals and something even more special when you are photographing them. Especially when they’re thoughtfully planned and set against one of the most beautiful backdrops in the Ozarks. Jake & Maya’s proposal at Top of the Rock near the iconic Chapel of the Ozarks was exactly that: intentional, emotional, and absolutely stunning. Here is a little bit about a recent proposal I photographed and why is was so special!
Planning the Perfect Surprise
Jake first reached out to me a few weeks before the proposal, wanting to make sure every detail was just right. As a Branson proposal photographer, these are some of my favorite sessions to be a part! There’s so much excitement behind the scenes, and I love helping bring it all together.
We talked several times over the weeks leading up to the proposal. Working out things like timing, location, and approach so that Maya would be completely surprised. From where I would be positioned, to how Jake would lead her to the exact spot and get her to set her purse down. Every detail was thoughtfully mapped out!
The Proposal at Top of the Rock
The plan? Simple and seamless.
Jake and Maya had dinner reservations at Osage Restaurant, but he suggested they come a little early to get a drink. If you’ve ever been to Top of the Rock, you know it doesn’t take much convincing with the gorgeous overlook of Table Rock Lake.
Capturing the Proposal (and What Comes After)
One of the best parts about booking a proposal with me is that it doesn’t end at “yes.”
After the excitement settled in, we transitioned right into a mini engagement session around the property. Top of the Rock offers so many gorgeous spots, which makes it perfect for capturing those just-engaged, can’t-stop-smiling moments. We tucked into the corner along the Chapel of the Ozarks because the wind was blowing us all around!
