Laid-back June wedding in The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri
I am so excited to reminice back on Jess & Ray's wedding this past summer. The entire day from getting ready at the Chase Park Plaza, to portraits at Forest Park & Piazza Imo, to ending with a ceremony at Olivia on the Hill and reception at La Verona Marketplace was actually all perfect.
The day was HOT, I won't even lie. I am pretty certain there was a magnifying glass between us at the foot of the World's Fair Pavilion and the sun. I mean the heat and humidity was brutal and the whole bridal party were such troopers standing in their makeup or suits smiling for me while we tried to know out portraits in between all of the children swimming in the fountains in Forest Park. We eventually found shade by the fountain Piazza Imo on the hill where we finished up family pictures before heading to the ceremony a few blocks away.
For being a St. Louis native, I am embarrassed to say this was my first time ever visiting the Hill... which leads me to say I was very unprepared for the parking and narrow road situation but it was allllll fine we made do, didn't have to park or walk a super bunch. No biggie! I am so glad we decided to do family pictures at Piazza Imo though because the lighting hit so perfect during Jessicas bridal shots and she seriously glowed.
The ceremony space at Olivia on the Hill was nothing short of a dream. The cutest courtyard that feels like a little Italian escape away from stl. Even though it was warm it was shaded by the trellising and caught a good little breeze. It was truly magical! La Verona provided the absolute best space for a laid back, social reception. This was just a big family hang out with some good food, drinks and cake. It was wide open, lot's of great natural light thanks to the windows and so much space to just spread out!
They finished their night dancing to Taylor Swift (the brides fave artist) and shared scoops of gelato from a local gelato cart that came in, which was so freaking cute rather than cutting cake!!
