Spring in Forest Park just does something special, and Mitch & Lee’s engagement session felt like the perfect kickoff to everything ahead for them. With fresh blooms, soft light, and that golden hour glow settling over the park, it was one of those evenings that reminded me why I love being a St. Louis engagement photographer.
Lee and I actually we went to high school together, so getting to photograph this season of her life felt extra meaningful. Watching her with Mitch, it’s so easy to see the kind of steady, joyful love they share. The kind that doesn’t need much direction, just space to be fully themselves. So often couples are nervous prior to their engagement session and when they show up they look so natural in front of the camera, these two were one of those couples!!
We started their engagement session wandering around the Grand Basin, which is always a favorite spot for engagement photos in St. Louis. Between the water reflections and the open walkways, it gives you such a timeless feel without trying too hard. Mitch and Lee kept things relaxed, laughing their way through the session and leaning into those in-between moments that always end up being my favorite images.
As the evening went on, we made our way up toward Art Hill just in time for sunset. And honestly—it showed off. The sky softened into that warm, golden glow that hits just right in the spring, wrapping everything in light and making the whole park feel a little slower, a little quieter.
Those sunset moments on Art Hill felt like the perfect reflection of this season for them. With their wedding coming up this April, you can feel how close they are to stepping into this next phase of life.
Sessions like this are why I always recommend Forest Park to couples looking for engagement photo locations in St. Louis. It offers so much variety; from iconic landmarks like the Grand Basin to open, natural spaces. It also photographs beautifully in every season, especially spring. There are plenty of other options in Forest Park like the Muny, World’s Fair Pavilion or the Jewel Box too! Here is a post for an engagement session at the Worlds Fair Pavilion!
Mitch & Lee, I’m so excited for everything ahead for you two. Getting to document this part of your story meant so much to me. April can’t come soon enough.
